Legends of the Lane
Legends of the Lane grew out of Sheffield United F.C’s original Hall of Fame project, which began in 2000.
Legends of the Lane houses one of English football’s most comprehensive collections of memorabilia which spans the amazing history of our home, Bramall Lane, the world’s oldest professional football ground, and Sheffield United F.C.
It Houses F.A Cup Winners’ medals, International Caps and shirts won and worn by players of the past and present along with some of the rarest football programmes in existence in a collection valued at in excess of one million pounds. This is controlled by its own trust, which raises money towards enhancing future educational and community based projects and further enhancement of the collection.
The actual ball from the Blades’ first F.A Cup Final success against Derby County in 1899 looks out over proceedings that also features up to date and modern interactive equipment, along with audio and visual, giving a flavour of the past present and future.
Legends of the Lane also currently houses the original hand written rules of Association Football, laid down by Sheffield F.C, the world’s oldest football club. This book is literally the Holy Grail of the game and is the basis of football wherever it is played in the world today.
Legends of the Lane is an exciting multi use venue at Bramall Lane. Sheffield United’s “Fit for School” project, targeting year stages 3 and 4 is run from the facility on two days of the week during term time, and it also forms an integral part of all history based tours of our historic stadium.
It is also a fantastic and very different venue for the smaller conference, breakfast meeting or champagne reception when booking the larger platinum suite, which is accessible by way of sliding connecting doors.
Legends can be found at the Cherry Street entrance and is marked by the famous Cricket Pavillion Clock which adorns its entrance. Legends of the Lane is wheelchair friendly.
